Another Liverpool Docker

Saturday 23 June 2018

One year after our ‘Liverpool Docker’ Forgotten Tracks railtour we are pleased to present the sequel, enabling you to travel over some more highly unusual track in the north west of England including some track that has never been visited by a passenger train before. We are grateful to Ian Loveday for his help in the detailed planning for this tour.

The tour begins at Reading, travelling via Acton Wells, Acton Canal Wharf and Willesden. We then head north via Rugby and Stafford and the route is then: Crewe Down Fast Line, Acton Grange Junction, Arpley Sidings (reverse), Acton Grange Junction, Frodsham East, Helsby, Ince & Elton Sidings (by kind permission of Encirc Glass), Helsby, Frodsham Junction, Halton Junction, Runcorn, Edge Hill Down Wapping Siding (reverse), Bootle Branch Junction, Regent Road Crossing, Liverpool Bulk Terminal (by kind permission of Peel Ports. We have requested to run via different routes to last year’s tour and this time we hope to run on to the Quay via the Biomass Terminal), Regent Road Sidings, Bootle Branch Junction, Tuebrook Sidings (reverse), Earlstown, Warrington Bank Quay and Crewe. Here there will be a short leg-stretch stop before retracing our outward route.

Fares are unchanged from last year’s Liverpool Docker. All fares include a contribution towards the nominated charities of the private infrastructure owners, who make no charge for access to their lines.

All timings are provisional and intended only as a guide.
