Beverley at Christmas

Saturday 15 December 2018

The welcoming market town of Beverley has beauty in abundance, historic buildings galore, narrow cobbled streets and oodles of small town charm. It offers an upmarket Christmas shopping experience and the whole place is virtually level, just a few minutes’ easy walk from the station. There is an appealing selection of smaller individual shops, an antique arcade, trendy coffee shops and a bustling Saturday market.

As on previous visits at this time of year, the highlight of your visit will be a carol concert in the staggeringly beautiful Beverley Minster, specially arranged for UK Railtours. The Director of Music and his superb choir always put a really imaginative programme together for us, just one reason why we continue to return to this very popular venue.

Our journey is via the East Coast Main Line as far as Doncaster. As we head along the Humber Estuary, look out for the towering and graceful Humber Bridge, opened in 1981 with a height of 510 feet and a dramatic main span of no fewer than 4,626 feet. The train skirts the City of Hull before striking north for ten miles or so to arrive at Beverley.

We will be there for nearly four hours so you have ample time to enjoy the carol concert and enjoy everything the compact little town has to offer.

The fares are unchanged from our last trip to Beverley – in 2015!
