The Sally Forth

Saturday 18 August

The second day of our four-day Edinburgh Military Tattoo excursion is available separately, offering a really interesting circular tour around the Forth Estuary and Fife Coast.

Departing from Edinburgh we head across the lowland belt to Stirling, where the castle stands gaunt against the skyline. We then travel east through Alloa then along the northern banks of the Forth Estuary, with views of Edinburgh on the opposite back, along a line which is now very little used.

After a reversal at Townhill, near Dunfermline, our route is via the elusive Inverkeithing North Curve, then up the Fife Coast through Burntisland and Kirkcaldy with lots of coastal vistas. Then it’s on via Thornton Junctions, Lochgelly and through Dunfermline again to cross the magnificent Forth Bridge and arrive back in Edinburgh.

This train is entirely First Class Dining and a four-course lunch will be served at your reserved seat.

All timings are provisional and intended only as a guide.
