Tornado Tenth Anniversary Special No. 2

Sunday 29 July 2018

As part of the tenth birthday celebrations for 60163 Tornado we are pleased to offer two circular excursions from the locomotive’s birthplace of Darlington. These two trips have been specially priced so that more passengers can travel with Tornado as part of the locomotive’s anniversary and are sure to be popular!

Our second Tenth Anniversary Special departs from Darlington late afternoon and takes a journey of about three and a half hours around Yorkshire.  Our train will be hauled by Tornado throughout. Leaving Darlington we head along the East Coast Main Line to pick up further passengers at Thirsk. We then travel south to York and take the line via Church Fenton before taking the route to the new Glasshoughton station. From here we turn to the north and retrace our route back to York and along the ECML to Thirsk and Darlington.

This is unusual track for steam and includes several sections over which Tornado will work for the first time.

We also have a lunchtime tour on this date, please click here for details.

This tour is promoted by The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust with UK Railtours acting as ticket agents. All profits will go towards keeping Tornado on the main line in future years.

All timings are provisional and intended only as a guide.
