THE CITY OF YORKSaturday 23 October 2010
Following many requests, a trip to the fine city of York starting from Essex and London.
There is nowhere quite like York for a wonderful day out! No matter how many times you return there is always more to see.
The station is well located, right by the well preserved City Walls just a minute or two from the National Railway Museum which has been greatly extended in recent years - and it's now now free admission for everyone!
In just a few minutes you'll reach the oldest part of the city and the fascinating little shops that line narrow streets such as The Shambles. Nearby is the magnificent York Minster and all the other year-round attractions that make York so very special!
City Sightseeing (formerly Guide Friday) open top sightseeing buses tour the whole city centre, and once you've bought your ticket you can hop on and off at any stop at any time. Or relax on a cruise boat on the River Ouse to see the city from a different viewpoint.
You have some six hours to enjoy everything this great city has to offer the visitor. Fortunately there are no end of welcoming pubs and tearooms to enjoy refreshment during your visit.
