As word is quickly spreading I wanted to let you all know, before the jungle drums of social media and rail forums do the deed for me, that in the early hours of Sunday 19 April we received the devastating news that my dad, John Farrow, passed away at the Royal Free Hospital in London.
About three weeks ago we received the news that dad had contracted Covid-19 while in hospital. The virus gradually took hold and in his weakened state he was unable to fight it off. Heartbreakingly, due to regulations in place to stop the spread of the virus, we were not able to be with him in his final hours. We are told he passed away peacefully with a nurse by his side, holding his hand. He was not in pain and did not suffer.
He leaves behind his two children, Simon and I, and his wife Clare. He also has three grand children whom he adored. We are coming to terms with our loss and what the future holds in these desperate times.
UK Railtours is facing hard times too, more so now than ever. We thank you all for your ongoing support and loyalty. From a purely practical point of view, to offer reassurance to those who still have fares held in credit with us, I can assure you that we will continue to operate and you need not worry. We will be back on the rails as soon as we can. We owe that to Dad. He was undoubtedly, in our opinion at least, the very best in the business and his legacy should not be allowed to fade away.
The office remains unmanned but both emails and letters sent by post to the office will be acted upon by our team working from home. We are not able to answer phone calls.
Please stay safe and look out for each other.
Yours sincerely,
Liz Morris

If you wish to contact us please do so by email or post and we will respond as soon as we can. We are no longer able to man our phone line due to staff self isolation.
We will be back up and running as soon as possible. Many thanks.
From Tuesday 24 March 2020 some of our staff will be home working to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
We will be taking bookings and handling queries as usual. However, our phone line will only be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10am until 2pm.
Emails will be monitored and responded to as normal, 5 days a week.
The next week or so will see no less than seven new tours added to our 2020 programme! Our e-newsletters are still the best way to keep up to date with everything we are planning.
Please note that the office will be closed on Friday 27 December.
Here is UK Railtour’s Phil Bicknell presenting our ‘giant cheque’ to Lindengate.
£10,000 will help them to continue their valuable work, known as Social & Therapeutic Horticulture (STH), which uses the healing power of nature and the outdoors to improve mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem & social inclusion and encourage long-term recovery. STH is recognised to be beneficial for a wide range of mental health needs including anxiety, depression and loneliness as well as for people with autism, dementia and head injury.
Many thanks go to all who took part in our onboard Charity Raffle over the last few months!
