UK Railtours is delighted to offer the opportunity to travel on one or both of our ‘Positioning Tours’  – affording the rare opportunity to enjoy up to 500 miles of EPR class 37 traction over interesting routes at an unbeatable price.

Join our Positioning Tours as a means to access our exciting ‘Carols at Norwich Cathedral’ tour on Saturday 14th December or alternatively make a weekend of it in London – perhaps to undertake your Christmas shopping or take in a West End show. Or simply enjoy some English Electric traction at sociable times. The choice is yours!

Our Positioning Tours will run from Preston on Friday returning to Preston on the Sunday. Customers are responsible for any connecting travel and/or overnight accommodation.

Departing Preston at approximately 10.30am on the Friday we will run via Crewe, Stafford,  Nuneaton  Hinckley, Wigston North Curve, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Peterborough and terminating at Stevenage .

Our return routing on Sunday sees us depart Stevenage  and we travel down the ECML to Peterborough before diverting East to Spalding and Sleaford. From here we turn west towards Nottingham and then route back south through Leicester to Wigston North Curve and onward to Nuneaton. Rather than joining the WCML here, we instead continue further west to Water Orton where we join the freight only line to Walsall. We avoid Wolverhampton and head to Stafford via Penkridge. Now back on the WCML our return to Preston includes an additional set down opportunity at  Crewe. Arrival at Preston is expected by 18.47.

Our trains will offer both standard and first class accommodation and a special return fare is available offering great value. There will be no allocated seating on these trains.

Contrary to what was originally advertised, we are pleased to confirm that a buffet service offering hot drinks  and light refreshments will be available on both trains.

Traction is expected to be EPR class 37/4 locomotives throughout. Our thanks to our Train Operator Rail Adventure for facilitating these Positioning Tours.

Please note return tickets are issued to named individuals and are strictly non transferable.
