The Derbyshire Rose

Saturday 13 June 2020

Join us on a tour to the rolling hills of Derbyshire with a choice of two top-class destinations; the magnificent Chatsworth House, with the chance to visit the Royal Horticultural Society Chatsworth Flower Show, or the wonderful National Tramway Museum at Crich.

Our special train runs via Melton Mowbary and Loughborough to Alfreton and Chesterfield.

National Tramway Museum at Crich

At Alfreton coaches will be waiting for the short hop (six miles) to the National Tramway Museum at Crich. Be transported back in time on vintage trams, soak up the atmosphere on the period village street with a visit to the shops and take refreshments in the tearooms and pub. You will have at least four hours to enjoy this ever-popular UK Railtours destination.

Alternatively, stay on board the train to Chesterfield where coaches await for the twelve mile transfer to Chatsworth House. Here you can either choose to visit the house and gardens, or to explore the RHS Chatsworth Flower show which will be taking place on the front lawn.

Chatsworth House and Gardens

You will have around four hours to explore the fabulous stately home with its fine art collection, and stroll around the magnificent grounds with their enchanting lakes, fountains and follies. Your ticket for this option does not include entry to the Flower Show.

The Royal Horticultural Society Chatsworth Flower Show

If you have opted for the Flower Show option you can spend the time perusing the delightful mix of gardening inspiration, spectacular summer colour, have-a-go workshops and unique shopping on offer at the Flower Show. We have been advised that holders of a ticket for the Flower show can obtain half price entry to Chatsworth House and Gardens on the day from the ticket office, but that four hours is probably not enough time to visit both.

Free Time in Chesterfield

If the above options are not to your taste you may like to spend time in the Market Town of Chesterfield where you will find plenty to do and see.

There are ample refreshment facilities available at both Crich and Chatsworth.

The fares include coach transfer and admission. On the way home we go a ‘long way round’ for extra interest and to give lots of time for diners to enjoy their meal. Please ensure you advise your choice of destination when you book.

First Class Dining includes the Great British Breakfast and a Four Course Dinner. A buffet car is also available.
