The Devon Pullman

Saturday 18 June 2022

Once more we partner with our friends at British Pullman – A Belmond Train to bring you a very special excursion on the UK’s most well-appointed and luxurious train. The unusual addition of two Class 50 locomotives at the front of the train make this a day out truly not to be missed!

A delicious brunch is served with a decadent Bellini to start your day off as you get to know your fellow travellers and of course your immaculately presented Pullman stewards. As we head out of London via the Berks and Hants line we leave the urban sprawl behind, travelling through Hampshire and Wiltshire. The views become ever more scenic as we travel through Somerset before entering Devon and arriving at Exeter St Davids, where you will have around three hours to explore this unique and charming city.

Exeter, County Town of Devon

There is evidence of a settlement on the mouth of the River Exe from as far back as 250BC, but the modern city we now know as Exeter only really came to prominence in Roman times. Today’s Exeter is a compact but thriving city with a huge variety of attractions.

Particular highlights include the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, with 16 galleries of displays taking visitors on a voyage of discovery from pre-history to the present day and from Exeter all around the world, and Exeter Cathedral.  Founded in 1050 when the bishop’s seat was moved from nearby Crediton and completed in 1400 the cathedral has several notable features including an astronomical clock and the longest uninterrupted medieval stone vaulted ceiling in the world.

The Return Journey

Dining is an essential part of the British Pullman experience, and a perfectly chilled glass of Champagne will await you as you reboard the train for our return journey. A sumptuous five-course dinner follows, prepared on board and expertly served by the Pullman stewards as we traverse the West of England Main Line through Axminster, Yeovil, Salisbury and Andover before we leave each other once again at London Victoria.

Prices include your reserved seat on the British Pullman, brunch with Bellini and a five course dinner with Champagne and your choice of table wine.
