THE DEAD SIMPLE POSITIONING MOVE

In advance of our exciting ‘A Simply Awkward Week Adventure’ tour the following day, why not join us for a superbly priced positioning move to London and back to Peterborough via interesting routes. Our traction consists of 2 x Romic Class 20’s supported by an EPR Class 37/4 locomotive.

For those so inclined, you can start your day at Great Yarmouth for a very rare run to Norwich via Acle behind our Class 20 locomotives. Others may choose to join us at Norwich for a more sociable start time and the run behind our Class 37 locomotive to Harwich Town. As you might expect our route to the Port of Harwich is not straightforward as we initially travel west to Ely before joining the Soham Branch via Bury St Edmunds. Having journeyed into Suffolk we rejoin the Anglian main line north of Stowmarket.

After a brief photo opportunity at Harwich Town we resume our journey towards London, with our Class 20 locomotives now at the helm for the remainder of the day. We rejoin the Anglian Main line at Manningtree South Junction and thereafter pass through Colchester, Chelmsford and Shenfield before entering the urban sprawl of East London.

At Stratford we diverge onto the North London line, as we head towards Canonbury West Junction and access to the East Coast Main Line at Finsbury Park. We expect our pair of Class 20’s to provide some spirited running north of Huntingdon as we aim to keep clear of faster express services, but before then have requested routing via the Hertford loop – once an almost compulsory path for charter trains but rarely used these days by special trains.

There is no First Class accommodation on this train.  We do not expect a buffet car to be available on this train.
